Baccano can be pretty jarring since it jumps around timelines so much that you pretty much need to see it twice to figure out what the plot actually is, but if you're in it for the characters like I was then that doesn't really matter so much. Also the fact that you don't know what's going on can be incentive to keep watching it. I hadn't watched anything for years before I got around to seeing it, but it's pretty much one of the best anime I've ever seen. Speaking of which, Durarara's by the same people and is also excellent, although pretty different (more focus on plot and plot twists, also less funny).
